a game, a game, my Kingdom for a game

anyone...anyone...

So here's a thought. Would anyone be interested in playing in a forum game? Maybe this could be the means by which I continue Necessary Evil? Thoughts?

If anyone is interested, I'll post some thoughts on what's involved so you can decide if you want to participate.

If everyone else is...

I have no idea if any of you have played in one of these before. I played in a Star Trek game for a couple of years and it was a very good experience.
I emphasis that this proposal does not mean the end of any table based endeavours. Just means we can keep the interest up a bit and it should be easier to work around everybody's schedules.
To be clear, a forum or play by post game works like this; The gm (me), posts the situation setup in the forum. You, as players, post replies in the forum as short bits of text dexcribing what your character does and the game moves forward. Things move slowly but you are only obliged to post a few times a week. You can post more if you like but there will be a fixed number of posts which I will ask you to post in the week as a minimum level. I'll see if I can dig up some links to some of these games in progress so you can see what I mean.

What to play? Well, necessary Evil springs to mind but i'm happy to run anything within reason and given time to prepare. Let me know what you think.

I'll put you down as a yes, then. I've spoken to Mike although he's off sick at the moment so may not get round to casting his vote until the end of the week. I'll ping a message to Chris so he is also aware and we'll see what happens.

Good to see you back. I'll put you down as a yes. It's official, we are a go. It's worth doing now even if Mike doesn't fancy it. I will sit down tonight and write up some more information. Watch this space.

You'll note that each character has a thread of his or her own. This thread is where the character's stats are posted and any advances and so on. There's an out of character thread which is for discussion outside but relevant to the game. There is an information thread which contains background info and then there is an episode thread for each story. Take some time to have a look at these threads. Take a look at the episode threads in particular to see how the game flows, with posts from the gm and then responses from the players.

Are you going to set up a new section just for forum games?

Yes. In fact, can you all confirm that you can see the new section of the forum entitled Savage Worlds - Necessary Evil? There should be several foums beneath the heading as well, although these should all be locked at the moment.

The character thread for Professor Mastermind is open now. Chris, this thread is where your character sheet is held. We will also use the thread to record advances and you can use it to put any background notes you want to.

Well truth be told, I fell asleep in front of the TV earlier in the evening   and woke-up on my sofa at nearly 2am. Before switching off the PC and heading off to bed I had this sudden impulse to check out Rennys Game Forum, hence the late night posting. Lol

Must be an age thing. I'm forever falling asleep on the sofa while watching tv. I am suitably humbled by the fact that the first thing you felt the need to do was check the forum, rather than go to bed

Kevin, when are you flying to Florida and for how long? Seems to me we should wait until you're back before kicking off the game proper. I'll use the time to get the background stuff sorted, and may even run a little intro game for Chris and Mike while you're away. A prelude, if you will.

August 19th to Sept 2nd. have me captured, and them mount a rescue mission?

That's a bit later than I thought but it's ok. Plan is to post Mike's character tonight and then start populating background info over the weekend. Originally I was going to start the game next week but Mike is away this week as well. I'll have a think about it and advise.
