A Game of Thrones

Post by kevinrolfe on 25th June 2011, 07:42

I have Watched the HBO series and listened to the Audio book, and as we speak i am 200 pages into the first Book.

All in all the Book looks the better option. edging out the audio book when you hear Tyrion the Imp in a shit Welsh accent. that said the series is very good, the theme tune is excellent.

I do try not to read fantasy books, i have had some bad experiences, Stephan Donaldson books initially look good but 20 odd pages in and WTF "Dark Kevin" turns up. so i stick to Tolkien and the odd Dragonlance core volume. so to pick and read and want to finish a 7 volume set is rare. i jumped from Dresden to the railway detective through The Dragons of an Hourglass mage before taking a good crack at this set, though i have picked up Cornwells the Burning land and wandering in and out. that and read in up on the Suez crisis

I do seem to have built up a back log of books to read with a few more being published to add to my reading pile so to pick up a new series is probably fool hardy..ho hum.

My order would be
The Book The Series then the Audio book.

I'd sort of agree. I really like the series but also thought the book was excellent and am soon to dip into the second novel.
