Black and White (B&W) Movie Day

Post by Digger on 18th March 2011, 08:08

Guys,

Thinking of doing a B&W day, that is showing only B&W movies preferably pre-1950's!

I have to offer;

Sherlock Holmes and the Pearl of Death
The Blue Lamp
Battle of the River Plate
Sink the Bismarck
They died with there boots on!

Let me know what people think or if they have ideas and I'll arrange a day, beer and chilli will of course be supplied!

Battle Of The River Plate is in colour and was made in 1956 but other than that it's a cracking idea Very Happy

I have a load of Laurel and Hardy 'shorts' and some Flash Gordon. Maybe you could run a main feature and a supporting feature presentation Wink

I could also chuck in a couple of episodes of the old Captain Marvel b&w series and maybe we should grab some Three Stooges and Abbott & Costello Very Happy

Sounds like a superb idea to me. I would love to see some Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes, and am willing to throw in my collection of Hartnell & Troughton era Doctor Who if anyone's interested. Very Happy

Of course that would also rule out Dr Who as it started in 1963.

Quatermass might be ok, or something American like Them!, It Came From Outer Space etc. All from the 1950's.

Have any of you thought of dates yet? My weekends are filling up rapidly as I get nearer to our holiday.

Fly back on the 19th/20th May. Seriously, though, go ahead without me if you can get people together. You're welcome to borrow any of my movies or tv shows you want. We can always do a follow up later on which I can attend.

Nope - I would like you to be there, I therefore propose a new date of:

28th May 2011

Please can people confirm, I will do the chilli and some beer, but if people could bring some soft drinks if they don't want a beer it would be appreciated.

Also, those locally who would like to be picked up; please let me know and I will do that as well;

Cheers
