Deadlands:reloaded

The next game i would like to run is deadlands.

Have a think about concepts for PC's and what themes you would like to cover etc.

What is the 'tone' of the game; Leone, Eastwood or Ford and are the PCs meant to be bascially the good guys or the bad guys?

The tone will be set by the type of Western people like and there preferences so leone would be my choice.

I would also agree that Leone is the way to go. Nowt wrong with Blazing saddles, though.

Joe Curse: Former cold blooded killer, crippled and left for dead now he seeks revenge on those who killed the woman he loved.

Tupelo Mississippi Flash: Flamboyent cardsharp, gambler, hex-slinger and demon fighter.

Steel Tom: Apprentice to the famous inventor Fabian Cartwright, when his master was killed and the plans for his greatest invention stolen Thomas Steele set out to pursue the thieves to America and stop their neferious plans.

The Gringo: Although appearing as a simple singing cowboy travelling the west, his guitar case actually contains a plethera of leaden death for wrongdoers.

John Moses: Grizzled former lawdog, veteran of the weird west and one tough, ornery Texas Ranger. He lost an arm and an eye to something 'bad'.

More as they come, but I'll probably wait until the others have chosen their characters and pick whatever the part lacks.

What is known is that he's powerful ugly, tall, mishappen, as strong as an ox and mighty afraid of fire. He is searching for his 'father'. Most folks think when he finds him there's gonna be trouble...

Tricky to do as a novice character though - as admitedly are most of my concepts.

as this is just a three parter, Seasoned or Veteran (maybe one Heroic) would be ok.

I'll keep my character at novice as it suits his concept better, I think.

Description
A giant, misshapen ‘lump’ of a man. Body and face scared and terribly deformed in a ‘coaching accident’. His attire of heavy, black labourers cloths are ill-fitting, patched and worn. He wears a wide brimmed black hat (pulled low to conceal his features) and sturdy (though mismatched) iron-shod workman’s boots. His accent (when he speaks) denotes a European origin.

Background
Frank Adams, or just Frank as he is more commonly referred to (“There’s only one Frank partner and you’ll know him when you see him…”) is little known about in these parts and most folks are quite prepared to live in ignorance where he is concerned. What is known is that he originally came from Europe, probably from Germany, though he is said to have travelled to England, Ireland and – if tales are to be believed – the North Pole. He has been wandering around ‘The West’ for a few years now, though his travels seem far from purposeless. Those few in the know say is searching for a man and his creations. They don’t know what will happen when he finds him, but it will probably mean a whole passel or trouble for someone – and whoever is foolish enough to stand in his way.

Notes
His associates are few and his friends less. He doesn’t stick around too long in one spot. Despite his appearance he is well read in many of the classics, though often strangely ignorant of more worldly matters. Mostly he seeks nothing but to be left alone, and doesn’t bother those that don’t bother him. Though there is many a drunken cowpoke who’s learned to regret bearding this fearsome giant. He can be quite ruthless in his quest and to make him an enemy is often a fatal mistake – he takes a lot of killing. Most folks are just happy just to get out of his way.

This Game still counts as a "Victorian" game. so will attempt to get this baby off the ground mid-way through 2010.

for various reasons you find yourself sitting in the saloon in the town of Deadwood.

Suddenly there is a scream and woman runs in the bar and screams "Chinatown is burning". Everyone runs out.

Before you can leave a filthy looking Hick stops you, "Boss, youse the law, cause i needs me a law man, eyes gotta showns you somit Boss, come with me afor they come back from chinky town"

despite any protests you have he leads you all round the back of the Bar to a small barn, in side he shuts the door and locks it, then he lights a lantern and illuminates the barn. which is bare except for a table with a blood stained white cloth covering something.

" see what i found"

he pulls of the sheet, revealing a human boy with feather stumps on his back where wings once were. the wings are under him, he has no genitals.

"i found me an Angel"

His eyes milk over and a blank expression clouds his face, he speaks.

"oh...yes master, now master..very well"

The hick raises his hand and from nowhere he produces a ornate knife and slices off his left hand at the wrist.

blood poor's from his wrist like water from a tap, all the blood gathers in the dirt and dust of the barn floor, where something takes shape a horned creature made of blood raises up and speaks.

"Tell me mortal. what do you dream of at night, when the demons come" he laughs in a demonic way. " so it begins" there is an ripping sound and the earth shakes.

outside a shadow dome is raising up over the whole town. "welcome to hell..."

Saddle up partner it gonna be a long night.

The game begins just after the Creature speaks.

The Siege of Deadwood will play out over 3 session next year.

Good point, given its taken me 5 years to get a Deadlands adventure, off the ground.
