Babylon 5: The Gathering

Post by Renny on 11th January 2009, 21:20

On a whim, I popped in the B5 pilot movie last night. Overall it stood up pretty well although some of the dire central performances were even worse than I remembered. Tamlyn Tomita as Takashima (sic) couldn't deliver a line if it had the postcode on it, and Michael O'Hare looked vaguely disinterested for much of it. His eyebrows seemed far more into it, though Very Happy . As we know, thing do improve and Garibaldi, Londo and G'Kar are all ace as usual. The cgi is looking pretty ropey, unfortunately but is not bad as you might think given the budget and technology available at the time.

B5

A fair assessment - I just happened to watch 'In the Beginning' over the weekend and whilst I agree the CGi was looking a bit past its sell-by date, it wasn't all that bad and still very enjoyable, especially the battle sequences.

Considering the date and the technology available, I think it still stands the test of time, I mean look at some of the early TnG stuff, have you seen 'Encounter at Farpoint' lately? Crying or Very sad

We also watched 'Krull' as well, but no doubt Hissy will have more to say about that! affraid

Kind Regards

Watched three more episodes of B5 last night. Midnight On The Firing Line was cool and way better for the introduction of Ivanova, Soul Hunters was a bit "meh" and I always enjot " Born To The Purple".
And no, I haven't watched Encounter at Farpoint and have no intention of doing so Very Happy
