Which is better Hawk the Slayer or Krull - Resolved!!
Since the dawn of time man has looked to the heavens and asked, which is mightier; Hawk the Slayer or Krull? Now that age old argument has been decisively resolved through the medium of board games. Formula D was the game and over a two lap race Team Hawk the Slayer utterly vanquished Team Krull, taking both 1st and 2nd place and silencing forever the heretical tongues of the unbelievers.
Let the scribes and minstrels be told and the glad tidings ring across the Land. Hawk the Slayer doth rock and is without doubt the greatest fantasy film to come from this Sceptred Isle.
Nuff Said.

Fear not Team Krull fans. We may have been beaten today, (just as Prince Colwyn was at the beginning of the movie) but this is just a temporary set-back, for I shall return armed with the magical glaive, and a fearsome army of bandits, (played by Liam Neeson, Robbie Coltrane and um errr Todd Carty), a cyclops (played by Bernard Bresslaw), and none other then Ergo the Magnificent, (yeah that'll show you Hawk fans)!! Together we shall vow to smite the armies of the Beast and rescue the Princess Lyssa on Sunday 11th January at 17:45 (Channel 5). And then if we have some time on our hands after saving the world, we might pop back and race you again at Formula De!!

It's on Peter Jackson's to-do list.
On a more serious note, we should definitely try and arrange a group viewing of Hawk The Slayer at my house some time. Lots of ale and snacks and awesome cinematic entertainment, what could be better?

Just three little words, "Hawk The Slayer". Heck, we could watch both although one of you saddo's would have to provide the film as obviously I don't own a copy

I'd happily quoff some ale and watch the majesty that is HTS. May I suggest that you zoom out however as the spectacle of the film in the full 42 inches of the screen would be too much for any earthly mind to bear!

Never mind Hawk the Slayer on you TV-set - because an even more awe-inspiring experience awaits me and Digger on Friday night when we watch Krull on his 42inch screen!!! This will surely be the movie-event to beat all movie-events as we indulge in a truely mind blowing experience that would leave even the most sceptical viewer, utterly stunned by the awesomeness of Krull in all its 42 inch glory!!!

I think you'll find that Digger's set is 37" dear boy which makes HTS a whole 5" more awesome.

Well we finally got round to seeing Krull on Digger's huge TV in 5.1 surround sound and I think I can safely speak on both our behalfs (and on behalf of Team-Krull) that the experience was a complete sensory overload!! The amazing combination of the eye-popping cinematography from the Italian locations, great model-work (esp. the "Black Fortress"), direction, Star Wars quality visual-effects, and a fast-paced engaging story, with that superb soundtrack from James Horner make this a classic of the genre!! As the tagline says: it was "A world light-years beyond your imagination". (lol)
Just for fun, here are some of my favourite quotes:-
Prince Colwyn: The forest is not safe. You best travel with us.
Ergo: Me travel with you? Do you know who I am?
Prince Colwyn: No.
Ergo: I am Ergo the magnificent. Short in stature, tall in power, narrow of purpose and wide of vision. And I do not travel with peasants and beggars. Goodbye!
Torquil: Silence! You're surrounded by a hundred men.
Prince Colwyn: A hundred is not enough.
Torquil: Well what have we here? A fighter?
Prince Colwyn: Besides you're short by about ninety men.
Seer: The temple is at the center of the swamp where three trees grow as one.
Prince Colwyn: How can anything grow in that place? It smells of death.
Ynyr: Death and power are close cousins.
Torquil: I don't think I like your relatives, old man.
Prince Colwyn: The reward is freedom... and fame!
Torquil: Freedom? We have it! And fame? Nah. It's an empty purse. Count it, go broke. Eat it, go hungry. Seek it, go mad!
Ergo: Robbers!
Prince Colwyn: They're men. We don't know yet whether they're robbers.
Ergo: Faces that ugly could only belong to robbers. Don't worry, I'll turn them all into pigs.
Ergo: Wait! Wait for me. I've just remembered, I have urgent business in this direction.
Prince Colwyn: What business?
Ergo: Staying alive.
BTW: Rell the Cyclops is armed with a weapon that on close inspection revealed itself to be none-other then Flintly's 'patented' Troll Catcher! (from Digger's AD&D campaign) Hmmm....me-thinks this proves that Russ is really a secret 'Team Krull' fan afterall!
