The Danger Society
As part of the 2009 Year of 'Pulp' allow me to present...
The Danger Society.
The Danger Society was founded in the early '30's, by six men. From almost limitless funds they designed the many vehicles and gadgets used in their globe-trotting adventures. In addition they also financed and built the Devonshire Building in mid-town New York city. Within that they built The Residancy, their home and HQ.
The Residancy
The Residancy is the home and HQ of The Danger Society. It's actual location is mid-town Manhatten, New York City. It is one of New York's newest and most modern skyscrappers; both the first and second talliest building in the world. The Residancy is located on the top floors of the Devonshire Building (80th to 87th floors) The building itself was actually designed by one of the Danger Society, who also designed the formidable security devices that guard it - they say that only Fort Knox is more secure, but the Resisdancy is better decorated.
Each of the members of the Danger Society has an entire floor of the Residancy, decorated to their own personal wants and tastes. However they all share the bottom floor which acts as their common area, reception, guest quarters, armoury and map rooms. The Residancy can only be reached through a private, express elevator that goes from the bottom floor to the reception floor of the Residancy. This lift is located on the ground floor. It can be found behind door B7, an un-remarkable locked, grey door found at the end of a seldom used corridor. Another set of lifts serves the residential floors and all the elevators are seperate from the main lift shafts. The main lift also goes down to the second sub-basement that is for exclusive use of the Danger Society. The top floor of the Residancy is used to store equipment, and systems for the floors.
At the very top of the Devonshire Building there is a great bronze pyramid. Atop this is a statue, also of bronze, it is a giant image of Atlas, bearing the globe on his back. However this great piece of modern sculpture serves another purpose, it can rise up into the air and be used to moor zeppelans. The control room for this mechanism is located right below the pyramid structure.
Brunswick E. Brunswick IV
Tag: Pulp inventor and globe trotting scientist.
Background: Brunswick E. Brunswick known as 'Johnny' to his friends for obvious reasons, is a self educated genius who funded his education with his inevative inventions. Now a renowned scientist and inventor, he is perhaps more widely known as one of the Danger Society.
Description: Although he is quite small in stature, his body is actually a powerhouse of wirey strength and stamina.
(He looks like the Hawkins character from Predator, right down to the glasses.)
Personality: Dry, clinical and rarely overly emotional, he is never the less a stalwart team-mate. He is soft spoken and some might say overly earnest at times, however the closer he comes to danger the more he 'loosens up'. His restless mind is always working on something and dozens half-finished and half-abandoned projects may be on the go at the same time.
The Residance: Johnny's part of 'The Residance' is a real mess. Every level surface seems to be crammed with books, tools, scientific papers, devices (both complete and half-made) inventions and chemical experiments. Johnny considers almost all of his part The Residency a viable labspace, however 'his personal quarters' as he refers to them are always sparse and scrupulously clean. The only piece of 'non-practical' furniture he owns is a rather beaten up antique Harpsichord (on which he only plays Bach, or variations of - some of which he has composed himself).
