DTotSL #01: Waylaid on Wayland

Strap in and prepare for lift off, with the first issue of Daring Tales of the Space Lanes!

Triple Ace Games’ new line of high-octane, two-fisted tales takes the heroes into space, where fighting evil crime lords, dodging bounty hunters, and evading asteroids while blasting at enemy fighters is all part of a day’s work.

Waylaid on Wayland: When a senior political figure offered the heroes a tidy sum to deliver a small package it seemed like easy money, but that was before people started trying to kill them. What begins as a simple cargo run quickly has the heroes involved in a running battle over who gets to control a powerful political organization on the industrial world of Wayland. Trash incinerators, acid rain, high speed chases through chimney stacks, and a showdown where the scenery is just as dangerous as the opposition await!

Yep it was a lot of laughs. Particularly liked the NPC portrayal and there was some good RPing going on. Also the thing barreled along at a cracking pace. I was quite surprised that when the game ended at 10.30; it felt like later.

Just wanted to throw in my own comments. I enjoyed the session very much. I felt there was lots of good character work (Chris' hard of hearing shtick, Russ with his efforts to get more money while under fire in the junkyard and Kevin's use of psionics in interesting ways). I thought the game moved along at a good pace and I felt the counters worked pretty well, saving me a lot of prep time. I need to review some rules before the next session but no big problems there. I'm also glad to have been able to grasp the chase rules which was always a big stumbling block for me before and I suspect that these scenarios will make a lot of use of them. So all in all, a good solid session which wrapped up nicely by 1030pm. I look forward to part two.

There's every possibility we may wrap up a bit early this evening depending on how things go. Just wanted to throw that out there for what it's worth. I will be looking for feedback on tonight's session and whether or not we want to continue with these Daring Tales. Also, I want to discuss my availablity for the next month or so as I have holiday coming up. In the words of an illustrious starship captain, "Buckle Up!"

Yeh, I thought it went well. I really tried to avoid having you laid up like that but sometimes you just gotta take the hit. Try to duck next time. Very Happy
